And we are off…

Posted: November 8, 2008 in KestrelBlog

9 hours and counting I official begin my 2010 season.  Strange yes!  I am heading to Taiwan and China to begin production on the 2010 Bikes.  In the bike industry, we are always at least one year ahead designing bikes.  It’s difficult since we don’t have full sales numbers on 2008 and haven’t release 2009 but that is the way it is.

My first stop is China.  I visit our factories there who produce our frames, forks, bars, and other goodies.  Until you have seen a bike frame start from raw carbon, you can’t appreciate the amount of work that goes into it.  I’ll post some pictures when I return from start to finish to give you an idea of how the whole process works.

Next trip after China is Taiwan.  All the parts that get put on the bike are chosen over the next few months.  Cool thing is I get to see the newest of the new a year before the consumers do.  Kinda a cool part of the job.

Well, that’s it for now, time to pack and get mentally prepared for the 30 hour journey!
